Benefit’s New Dandelion addition to the family

Benefit Cosmetics’ Dandelion family just keeps getting better with the addition of the new powder highlighter which goes by the name of Dandelion Twinkle! Coming out today for us Aussie Beauty lovers, I am so so happy as it’s launched right on my birthday!

The packaging of this beauty is a beautiful metallic ballet pink, with a single dandelion on the outside of the trademark Benefit Boxed powder.

Described as a ‘nude-pink powder for highlighting and illuminating’ this is the exact function it fulfils.

When you open the box, inside you get an applicator brush for the highlighter which is specially shaped to be slightly rounded on the edges to apply your blush with a smooth blended application. Personally, speaking I find that for my love of intense and beaming highlighter on the face, this brush doesn’t give that effect. Instead, you will love the brush which comes with this product if you like a natural yet, lit-from-within glow.

The colour of the powder when you open the product is a light ballet pink, almost mixed with a pearly finish and there are no large chunks of glitter in the highlight shade.

When swatching this highlight, it definitely gives a natural lit finish to the skin, with a hint of a light powder finish. It is extremely fine and smooth to the touch, which I would think is because of it’s baked technology.

So here’s where you’re probably thinking, what is she going on about; but the scent of this highlighter is actually a delight to me! It smells a little bit like roses, or a slight floral scent! And anyone who knows me knows, that I love roses or floral fragrances and scents, so this highlighter is actually really impressing me!

Another awesome thing I love about all the box-o-powders that Benefit Cosmetics offers, is that no only do they provide a brush, but they all have an awesome mirror encased in the box, so it’s perfect for travelling and that sneaky makeup application on the go!

Final words on this highlight is that it’s definitely an awesome highlight for most skin-tones and those who are very fair will LOVE it! The packaging is on-point, and I am definitely gonna be rocking a slightly more subtle highlight over the next few weeks, thanks to this baby!

Must have summer makeup products

You know that feeling of a fresh makeup application, all set and applied so well, mascara and eyeliner in all the right places? And suddenly out of nowhere, a big heatwave comes along and your makeup is doing all the things from your worst nightmares.

Here’s some melt-proof makeup products to keep the summer heat away from your beat face!

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

The French definitely know their way around mists and I know I’ve kept this particular one close to me through the Sydney summer heatwaves! Not only does this amazing mist set your makeup, but you can even use it as a part of your skincare routine. This mist helps to hydrate your skin and revitalise it, and gives it that pick-me-up that we all need after a long day outside in the sun or at work in the aircon.

This mist also has peppermint oil, which gives it such a refreshing scent and a beautiful freshness. I love this, and have been experiencing an improvement in the overall look and feel of my skin whilst using it. Definitely an investment worth purchasing, and for anyone who’d like to try it, theres a smaller bottle on sale thats only $21 for 30ml.

Makeup Forever Mist and Fix

Just like the Caudalie Beauty Elixir, this spray is makeup’s perfect companion! This sits so well over a full face of makeup helping to shield and protect your makeup from the elements all day! This miracle worker also helps to keep hydration in the skin and I love that it doesn’t contain any alcohol!

A handy tip with this spray is that you can even spray your eyeshadow brush or highlighting brush and apply with your favourite eyeshadow pigment or highlighter to create an even more pigmented finish to your favourite eyeshadow or highlighter! Gotta love multi-use products!

Givenchy Prism Libre Loose Powder

Summer sun does have a habit of melting off foundation since it’s a liquid/cream formula, that’s why it’s pretty important to incorporate some powder to set the face during these hotter months. A favourite setting powder of mine to stay matte and oil-free all day long is the Givenchy Prism Libre powder. Not only does this powder have a luxurious packaging (as do all Givenchy products), but it also helps to brighten and colour correct enhancing your makeup as a final step! I personally love the floral scent it has, and it’s definitely on my summer ‘setting’ list.

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade

This product for for the beach-lover’s of summer! If you love spending time out and about and for those in particular who love getting into the waves, the formula of this beauty is waterproof and sweat-proof. Dipbrow Pomade comes in a variety of shades and undertones to match any hair colour.

This product will also take you through a whole year, with the amount of product packed in each jar! A little goes a long way!

So what are you summer makeup must-haves? Are any of the above products on your list?

3 star products from Marc Jacobs Beauty

For anyone who’s unfamiliar with the Marc Jacobs, (I highly doubt there’s many of you) he’s a fashion designer, has an incredible line of fragrances and also does amazing beauty products!

Those who’d like to find some new favourites or even just beginning their journey with Marc Jacobs beauty, here’s the top 3 buys from his endlessly sleek collection of beauty products.

Le Marc Lip Creme Lipsticks

With an incredible non-drying formula, this lipstick is a must have in any makeup lover’s bag! There’s so many shades to choose from so everyone will be happy with their perfect shade and undertone. These lippies last all day, with minimal touch up and because they’re such low maintenance, they’re perfect for on-the-go application. With a magnetic closure cap, you’ll be happy to open your bag and not be surprised by an unpleasant lipstick open inside! My favourite shade would definitely have to be ‘Infamous’ number 228.

#Instamarc Might filtering Contour Powder

Now if you’re a fan of contouring and sculpting the face, but hate the fact that those usual contouring palettes have so many confusing shades, you’ll love this little beauty. With only 2 shades, one for highlighting and one for contouring, you’ll get no wastage of shades that you won’t use, and the powders are in such a slim and low profile compact that it’ll fit in even the fullest makeup drawers. This product comes in 3 different levels of tones, but my favourite for anyone who has a warm, light-medium skin-tone is the number ’40’, it’s got the perfect banana toned highlight and a natural cool-tones contour shade. Another winner about this palette is that it’s got a super large mirror to do an entire makeup routine and see your entire face for all the details!

Fineliner Ultra Skinny Gel Eye Crayon

Who loves wearing eyeliner but hates when it ends up on the bottom of your eye almost making you look like you haven’t slept in 10 years!? This handy little liner will stay on all night through sweaty dancefloors, or just through a stressful summer’s day at work! The fine-line point on this gel cream eyeliner is super helpful to get a precise wing or line on the lids, or even the waterline. This formula allows you to achieve a smudged look if you smudge within 5 seconds of applying and once the 5 seconds is over, you’re set for the day (or night!). The packaging element is awesome as it’s a retractable pen and you won’t be caught short without a sharpener.

So what are your favourite Marc Jacobs Beauty products? Or what are you keen to try after reading about this makeup brand?

Sneak peek: Australian launch of new Makeup Forever Products!

So incase you haven’t heard, Makeup Forever is bringing in a couple of new products to the table! The whole brand style is getting a revamp and slowly but surely you’ll see an awesome new ‘look’. I’m a huge fan of the direction of their design and it’s definitely a little more contemporary!

This post will cover 3 new products in their line that Sephora Australia will stock very soon! The three new products launching are; Water Blend Foundation, Excessive Lash Mascara, and the new Application Foundation sponge specially for the Water Blend Foundation.

Water Blend Foundation:

So this newbie is going to replace the Makeup Forever ‘Face and Body’ foundation. This is an awesome lightweight foundation thats great for a nice dewy look but also super long wearing! I love the fact this is a waterproof foundation, and it’s great for performers or anyone who loves to put their makeup on and have it stay on without a fuss.

Personally, I find that it’s a little light in coverage for my liking, but I love applying this one over the top of another foundation like my long-wearing Estee Lauder Double wear, and this works a charm at giving me a healthy, dewy glow! It works beautifully with the new Makeup Forever ‘Ellipse’ Sponge that I’ll be talking about a little further down in this post.

Excessive Lash Mascara:

Screen Shot 2016-08-04 at 9.54.34 PM

Definitely my Favourite new release would be this tiny, but high impact mascara. This product lives up to the quote ‘Big things come in small packages’ for sure! It’s a new mascara, thats also a long-wearing, anti-smudge but non-waterproof formula. Even though this one doesn’t claim anywhere on the packaging to be waterproof trust me, I wore this through an entire day, and even when I got teary eyed from my tired yawning this mascara didn’t budge!

Also, for anyone who’s like me and has the short straight lashes, its great for getting right at the base of the lash and coating from there! The bristles on the wand of the mascara are shorter than your usual chunky thick wands, allowing easier application and making sure you don’t get your mascara on your eyelid! (yes, we’ve all been there)

I felt that this mascara was also not a heavy formula so it helped to keep my lashes lifted through the entire day. It definitely does what it claims and gives a good amount of volume (but your lashes are so defined and don’t clump together) almost like you’ve got lash extensions. If you like length, I’d definitely recommend just layering a lengthening mascara over this beauty!

NEW Ellipse Foundation Application sponge:

So if you know me, you’ll know I LOVE the Beauty Blender! I literally use this religiously everyday. But I can definitely see why Makeup Forever developed this sponge to be used with the new Water Blend  foundation. The texture of this sponge is more dense, so it doesn’t absorb as the light foundation that the Water Blend is. It’s a great sponge that applies the foundation directly onto the skin without making any streaks on the face!

I tried this one with my usual Estee Lauder Foundation and it gave me a fuller coverage than I got with my normal Beauty Blender, just because it is designed for a lighter coverage foundation so I assume it’s because it would be to build up something with a lighter feel.

This one is made from latex, so just make sure you don’t have allergies to latex. If you do, you might wanna stick to my favourite and purchase the Original Beauty Blender instead! 😀

So there you have it beauties! 3 brand new things to look forward to that are sure to be coming to Sephora Australia soon!

My Everyday Makeup favourites!

Hi lovelies,

This post will detail all my everyday makeup go-to products that I use most of the time whether I’m going to a special event or simply want to make sure I get the best look. So let’s jump straight into it.

For the purpose of this post I will start from the base and work my way through my makeup routine.

Primer- Benefit Porefessional Primer

Screen Shot 2016-07-24 at 6.28.46 PM
This stuff is like my holy grail of primers! I’ve always been a bit hesitant in terms of base products because I’m super concerned about comedogenic products, but this works a dream on my skin. I love the fact that this primer blurs and perfects my skin’s surface. It’s actually a really great value for money product because one full size tube of it lasts me literally a year (but that might be cause I only use a pea sized amount every day from the T-zone outwards). AND it smells amazing! (just putting it out there 😉 )

Foundation- Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Screen Shot 2016-07-24 at 6.31.21 PM

Now this stuff is amazing, because it’s a full-coverage light feeling, foundation and it has so many shades to choose from so you’ll be able to find a good match. I love the fact that this foundation is non-comedogenic (meaning it doesn’t clog pores), it’s oil free and lasts all day (so yes, you can go straight from work to that party). And for anyone wondering, I wear the shade 2w2 (Rattan) and in the winter 1w1 (Bone). This foundation is great for anyone with normal-oily skin who are after a medium-full coverage!

Setting powder- Givenchy Prisme Libre

Screen Shot 2016-07-24 at 7.42.12 PMSo I don’t usually Set my foundation with a finishing powder everyday just because the Estee Lauder Double wear sets to a matte finish and I don’t want a super dry matte look. But in the summer time or if I know I have a big day ahead of me and need my makeup to last until nighttime I’ll use the Prisme Libre to set. This stuff is sent from the gods! If anyone has super oily skin I’d definitely recommend this because it honestly helps to set liquids so well! And for anyone who find their eyeliner/mascara transfers to their undereye by the end of the day, set your undereye using this and I’m telling you, that mascara and eyeliner won’t move! 😀 One last thing, it smells divine too! I wear the shade 1 (Mousseline Pastel)

Brows- Benefit Gimme Brow

Screen Shot 2016-07-24 at 7.53.31 PM

So when I’m short for time and I want an instant brow NOW, I always reach for my Gimme Brow. This stuff is amazing, it gives my brows a fuller look (thanks to marshmallow extract!) and also fills in any sparse bits in my brows and FAST! That would probably be the best thing about this product; how fast and easy it is to use. It may look like a small product, but I get a year’s worth of use from it! Definitely recommend it for anyone!

Eyeshadow Primer- PotionUrban Decay Eyeshadow Primer

ThiScreen Shot 2016-07-24 at 7.43.48 PMs stuff is super good for oily eyelids like mine! I love using the ‘anti-aging’ version of this just cause it makes me feel better that I’m protecting my eyes from signs of ageing too! This product is also a favourite because it lasts me such a long time! I use it everyday and I have the mini version from Mecca Maxima which is 10g and I’ve been using it for more than a year! The tip of a pin sized amount gives me enough for both my eyes and helps my eyeshadow last the entire day.

Eyeliner- Kat Von D Tattoo liner (shade: trooper)

Screen Shot 2016-07-24 at 7.47.56 PM

Being a huge fan of the effect that eyeliner gives, I’ve had my fair share of eyeliner favourites. But the Tattoo Liner is the best one I’ve come across so far. The best and biggest difference this one provide is a BRUSH TIP rather than those nasty felt tip’s that are on most liquid eyeliners that eventually get dry and stop working. The formulation is super waterproof and last all day which is something I love about this.

Highlighter- Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (Moons

Screen Shot 2016-07-24 at 6.24.56 PM

I never miss this step when I do my makeup. My favourite go-to highlighter is the Becca Shimmering skin Perfector pressed in ‘moonstone’. If you’ve got a light-medium complexion you will adore this shade! What I think makes the Becca highlighters stand out from the rest I’ve tried is that their pigments are so super fine meaning you get that popping highlight everyone is after!

I hope this post helps you if you’re wondering what products to purchase to upgrade your makeup routine! Feel free to leave me a comment or ask me any questions about these products as I’d love to hear what you think!
